Position Title: Communications Assistant

Organization: Rocky Mountain District, LCMS (Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod)

Position Type: Part-Time Contractor

Project Pay: $2,000.00 per month

Overview: The Rocky Mountain District, LCMS, is hiring a dedicated and creative Part-Time Communications Assistant to join our team. This role plays a vital part in maintaining and enhancing our communication efforts to connect with our members and congregations. The Communications Assistant will primarily be responsible for managing the District’s website, social media platforms, monthly newsletter and various other communications on a part-time basis.

Responsibilities:

  1. Website Management:
    • Regularly update and maintain the District’s website with current content, events, and news.
    • Ensure the website’s layout and design are user-friendly and visually appealing.
    • Collaborate with District staff to gather and publish relevant information on the website.
  2. Monthly Newsletter:
    • Coordinate the production of the monthly newsletter, including content gathering, editing, and design.
    • Ensure timely distribution of the newsletter to District members and congregations.
    • Collaborate with contributors to gather articles, stories, and event highlights.
  3. Communication Strategy:
    • Collaborate with the District staff to develop and execute communication strategies.
    • Help identify opportunities to improve communication methods and engagement with District members and congregations.
  4. Social Media:
    • Manage and curate content for the District’s social media channels (e.g., Facebook).
    • Create engaging and shareable content to promote District events, news, and activities.
    • Monitor social media activity, respond to comments, and engage with the community.
  5. Graphic Design:
    • Create visually appealing graphics and images for various communication materials.
    • Design promotional materials for events, conferences, and other District activities.
  1. Photography and Video:
    • Capture photos and videos at District events and activities to use for promotional purposes.
    • Edit and upload multimedia content to various platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in communications, marketing, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Self-motivated, creative, and able to work independently.
  • Knowledge of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod or a willingness to learn about the faith-based organization.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with social media management and content creation.
  • Graphic design skills and proficiency with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Basic photography and video recording/editing skills.
