NEW Primary Color 1

“The gospel must be preached afresh & told in new ways to each generation since every generation has its own unique questions. The gospel must constantly be forwarded to a new address because the recipient is repeatedly changing his place of address.”

- Helmut Thielicke

The 2020 Educator's Conference is Something NEW - A Hybrid Experience

Sadly, we will not be gathering at Beaver Run this year, but we are excited about a program full of great content and a new approach.

The Rocky Mountain District places high value on gathering for encouragement, fellowship, and professional development and recognizes that the what-ifs in this educational reality are seemingly unending. So, just like each of you have been in your ministry...we're taking a new approach. We have been developing a hybrid conference experience.

How is this going to work?
Hybrid events connect live and virtual audiences. Educators can gather in person at their own churches or make plans to gather with colleagues at nearby churches or schools. Content will be provided via a virtual event hub for live interaction.
When? Friday, October 16th 8 - 5 PM. (Find the full event schedule by clicking HERE.)
Where? School and church locations across the district and in offices and living rooms via your device.

Together? We hope that church and school staffs will gather together as they are able to participate in the fellowship and learning opportunities. We will be providing materials to be used by staffs and leaders gathered together to engage with the content.

On your own? For those educators who do not serve with a larger staff, we encourage you to gather with other DCEs, ministry leaders, and emeritus educators to engage face to face as you feel safe doing so. Please indicate on single participant registration form if you wish to gather with other educators. We will connect you with others seeking a group and provide materials for discussion and connection.

Virtually together? For those participants who wish to connect virtually only, we'll have an online moderator to get you connected.

Cost is $50 per participant and includes:
- access to all conference content and activities including general sessions, workshops, & a virtual exhibit hall
- a copy of the newest Growing Leader book
- and post-event access to workshop content for 3 months.

 Share Your Best...

  • idea
  • lesson plan
  • chapel message
  • game
  • organizational idea
  • communication tool
  • etc.
As we gather online with those from other churches and schools, we have an opportunity to share our best in a NEW way.
This year's event will include some on-demand workshops from leaders throughout the synod. We also want to include some of the best of the Rocky Mountain District. We're asking for videos that share your best. Just grab your phone or webcam and share what you've got for the benefit of the community of educators! Videos can be between 2 and 20 minutes. Videos can be submitted HERE. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or This email address is being protected from spambots. Andrew McPeak
Generation Z Unfiltered: Facing the Hidden Realities in the Most Anxious Population

Back by popular demand, we will be joined again this year by Mr. Andrew McPeak.  Andrew is a member of the team at Growing Leaders, a nonprofit that encourages and equips the youngest generations to take on real-life opportunities and challenges.  Last year Andrew helped us to realize that in order to help inspire students to navigate our word today, we needed to "March Off the Map" and find and use new "maps" to lead and guide them in an ever-changing world.
This year Andrew will help us to understand the challenges facing our youngest generation, a generation that is both the most empowered and yet the most anxious in history.  Andrew will help walk us through these challenges, helping us to see how we can harness their special strengths, and provide practical action steps on how we can lead them into healthy, productive lives.

Early Childhood Mega-Sectional Speaker: Mary Wolfinbarger

Mary Wolfinbarger
Mary Wolfinbarger brings the powerful perspective of an “in the trenches” Lutheran preschool professional to this year's event. Mary, a Lutheran preschool director in California, is passionate about a preschool that shares Christ with their community by ministering to families and providing a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. Mary will be sharing training she helped to design for preschool teachers in Lutheran schools that aims to “Make Jesus Real” for children, families, and staff.

Mary's sessions will be offered LIVE during the general session times when Andrew McPeak is also presenting. Andrew's presentations will be available to all registrants following the event to view on demand for TWO WEEKS following the event, so your early childhood staff can choose to watch or rewatch general event sessions and benefit from all the content shared.

Bible Study Leader: Pastor Tim Ahlman

Tim Ahlman

Study of the Word and spiritual encouragement will be led in this year by Pastor Tim Ahlman. Tim Ahlman is a 3rd generation LCMS pastor currently serving at Christ Greenfield in Gilbert, AZ. Tim is passionate for Jesus, for building teams, and building people with a robust belief that everything God needs to accomplish His mission is found "in the house." Tim loves Lutheran schools. LCMS administrators and teachers are gifts from Jesus. Tim is excited to be serving and learning with the fantastic Rocky Mountain District leaders!
