DESCRIPTION:THE NEW DATES: JUNE 9-10\, 2022\nThe Referendum to add a year to the current triennium\, as voted on by congregations of the Synod\, passed by 90.67%. The Rocky Mountain District Board of Directors has delayed the District Convention one year; it will now be held in June of 2022.  Synod’s Convention will also be delayed one year and be held in 2023. \nPLEASE DO NOT SEND your 2021 District Convention Assessment!  \nAs you likely recall\, we assessed each congregation for the Convention late last Fall. However\, we requested that these assessments not be sent in until March or April because we anticipated a delay in our Convention. At this point\, we do not know the cost of our 2022 Convention (motel and other contracts must be renegotiated)\, therefore please withhold the 2021 Assessment. You will receive a new assessment for 2022. For those congregations that sent your 2021 Assessment\, we will send a reimbursement check to you within the next 90 days. If you would like your check to be released as a mission contribution we welcome this additional support. Please let Pastor Albers know click here to send an email.

DESCRIPTION:Wholly Citizens: Facing the World or How not to Sin in the Voting Booth\nMartin Luther carefully distinguished between the work of God in the realms of church and state\, and his successors have come to term the distinction “the two kingdoms.” Unfortunately\, what Luther taught and what is practiced by his followers too often have little in common. A careful study of Luther’s teaching will orient participants more adequately to address pressing questions about the right relationship between church and state\, the responsibility of the church toward the surrounding culture\, the role of the pastor in civil affairs and the role of the ordinary Christian living his or her faith in engagement with the surrounding culture. Contemporary issues will be addressed zealously including elections\, shifting understandings of sexual identity and marriage\, and the “rights” of Christians. Specific avenues of action will be proposed.

Rhoda Schuler (Concordia University – St. Paul) and Kent Burreson (Concordia Seminary\, St. Louis) are pleased to announce the next online conference on adult faith formation as part of their “Forming Lutherans” research and resources. Building on their earlier conference (Treasures Old and New: A Conference on Adult Faith Formation)\, this follow-up event will unfold ways in which the emblems of the Church intersect with the process of drawing people into Christ’s orbit\, thus making them disciples. Belonging\, believing\, and behaving describe the person’s journey toward discipleship. Each of these three descriptors serves as a daily theme for the conference and will be paired with the emblems of the Church.  By exploring what the Church is (a community of faith in Christ) and the activities that identify a community as Church (worship\, preaching and teaching\, and witness and service)\, the conference leaders will explore how living as the Church opens a Christian community to Christ’s missional calling: to teach and baptize and to love one another and the world. \nThis conference is open to LCMS pastors\, commissioned ministers\, and lay members at no cost\, because funding for this program is made possible through a Vital Worship Grant from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship\, Grand Rapids\, Michigan\, with funds provided by Lilly Endowment Inc. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
