Board Meeting Summaries

May 9, 2016 Board Meeting Summary:

The RMD Board of Directors met on Monday, May 9, 2016 beginning with Rev. Widger’s meditation on 2 Samuel 7 and Isaiah 55 with the theme “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” and praying that God’s will be done in all District endeavors.  President Anderson reported the current pastoral vacancies within the District and the significant shortage of pastoral candidates nationally.  President Anderson also requested prayers for the Synodical Convention this July.  The RMD District Disaster Response Task Force was granted a Disaster Response Trailer from the LWML.  Granted Gospel Gaps funds to God Cares About You – East Albuquerque Mission as requested by the Sandia Circuits.   Rev. Masinelli reported on Grace4Haiti mission work by Grace in Sandy, Utah.  Finally, the Board reflected on the findings of the first six of its Every Circuit Visitation initiative.  We plan to visit the remaining Circuits in the fall.

January 25, 2016 Board Meeting Summary:

RMD Board of Directors met for a full day session on January 25, 2016.   With prayerful consideration, a 2016-2017 Mission and Ministry Plan was adopted for the new fiscal year beginning February 1.  Reports and updates were heard from several sources; applications for Gospel Gaps funds were reviewed and acted upon; and an overture to Synod was considered and approved.  One of the five Board items of emphasis for this triennium is worker health.   Jack Lipski, Shepherd of the Hills, Centennial, visited with the Board and identified issues and the range of services available under the umbrella of mental health.  Board members divided themselves geographically and made plans to visit each Circuit in the District during 2016 for the purpose of improving communication and building relationships throughout the District. 

The next Board meeting is May 9-10.

November 9, 2015 Board Meeting Summary:

Under the devotional theme: “Where is our peace and hope in the midst of all the chaos in the world? It is in Christ alone,” the Rocky Mountain District Board of Directors, in their November meeting, continued to develop five focus areas for the 2015-2018 Triennium. Committees have been formed to develop strategies to enhance communication between the Board of Directors and district congregations, engaging circuits in identifying Gospel Gaps and serving those gaps, ensuring healthy church workers, developing stronger relationships between the Board and circuits, and promoting unity within the district.  The Board also began work on the Mission and Ministry Work Plan for the 2016 fiscal year.
